BECOMING A YOUNG TRUSTEE

How to build up your CV, gain valuable experience and give back to the community all at the same time

2 talks and Q&A with two successful young trustees who will explain why age is no barrier to joining the board of a charity and why JCI members in particular are uniquely suited to the role. Open to both members and non-members.

Who should go to this talk?

Anyone who would like to do more than just volunteer or give money to a cause they support and use the few hours of the month they are able to spare to make a real difference. Alternatively, if you attended JCI Achieve or JCI Impact and found them interesting, this will also be for you.

Why are JCI members uniquely suited to becoming young trustees?

The JCI exists to facilitate professional development through social action and there is no better example of doing this than becoming a charity trustee. Charity boards inspect accounts, analyse impact, and manage staff. This may sound like a lot but it actually only requires a few hours of commitment per week while giving trustees the kind of executive experience they may not get through their jobs for another few years.
